Goal: Thank international retail companies for aiming to end animal testing and better the treatment of farm animals in China.
International fashion retailer Hennes and Mauritz, better known as H&M, and cosmetic retailer Lush has joined the campaign to end all animal testing in China. The Humane Society International is leading the movement with the campaign called Be Cruelty Free China. Their main goal is to put a stop to animal testing and promote the better treatment of farm animals.
An H&M representative stated that animal welfare is important to their company and they want to contribute to the improvement of animal welfare practices in their industry. This legislation is specifically aiming at the treatment of sheep, which are subjected to removal of their skin. This goal is pushing them to elevate their standards throughout the industry and globally. Up until 2014, China made a law that all cosmetic products sold in the country must go through animal testing, which resulted in over 300,000 animals such as mice, rabbits, and sheep dying. The mandate was lifted in 2014, but that still did not stop the majority of companies in China from continuing their animal testing. Although the testing of animals is looked down upon, it is still legal in many countries.

It is great news to hear that both of your companies have joined the campaign and decided to ban the use of animal testing in China. There are more humane ways to test products to make sure that they are acceptable for use by the public. There is no reason why an outdated technique of testing products should still be used when there are better methods available.
The fashion and beauty industry needs leaders to start the movement, so it is especially great that two of the leading fashion and beauty companies are taking part in this effort. The movement Be Cruelty Free China is an amazing way to spread that very important message.
