Arrest Woman for Allegedly Hoarding Animals

Target: Captain Tom Easley of the Norman, Oklahoma Police Department

Goal: Punish woman if found guilty of confining 65 dogs to a small enclosed space.

Sixty five dogs were allegedly found cramped inside a woman’s home in Norman, Oklahoma. Activists need to take action to better ensure that this individual will not be able to care for dogs in the future if there is enough evidence to show these allegations are likely true.

Many of the types of dogs that were reportedly found in the house, such as Maltese and Pomeranians, are the kinds of dogs that breeders usually sell for a high amount of money. Additionally, two of the rescued dogs were pregnant, likely indicating that the lady was breeding dogs for the purpose of selling them.

While it is good news that these animals are no longer in the woman’s care, they now have to live in a shelter that is already overcrowded. As a result, animals that have been at the shelter for longer periods of time may have to be euthanized to make room for the massive amount of animals that were just dropped off.

Sign this petition and demand this woman be arrested for animal hoarding and that this case be further investigated if police feel that she was either hoarding or illegally breeding animals. Dogs deserve loving homes, not to be bred in massive numbers by people who really don’t care about their welfare.

Dear Captain Easley,

It was recently reported that 65 dogs were rescued and taken to a shelter from a woman’s house. If these allegations are thought to be true, police should arrest this individual in order to better ensure that she is not able to hoard animals in the future.

As you know, dogs that are usually sold by breeders were found at this woman’s house. Even though the dogs were brought to a shelter, they may or may not be adopted. In addition, since the shelter is overcrowded, animals that have been there longer will likely have to be euthanized to make room for the new influx of dogs. Such a situation is more easily avoidable when animal hoarding is not seen or thought to occur.

For all of these reasons I encourage you to bring the woman whose animals were confiscated up on charges for animal hoarding and to further investigate this case to see if any animal cruelty was taking place within the home. Dogs do not deserve to be crammed in a house and hidden solely for the purpose of trying to bring in a hefty profit.

  4. Simon Wooliscroft says:

The love of money is the root of all evil. I think this case demonstrates that perfectly.

  5. Should we even have KILL shelters? — Of course NOT! — there should be no such thing — does it make sense to any rational and compassionate person? — of course NOT! — shelters are for holding, caring, treating until homes are found for these animals — that’s what the tax dollars are for.
