Target: Mark Ober, State Attorney, 13th Judicial Circuit, Hillsborough County
Goal: Give couple maximum sentence for leaving two dogs in hot car while they went shopping.
Two dogs were allegedly left in a hot car with the windows rolled up in 91 degree weather by a couple who decided to go shopping at the local mall. These people need to be punished to the fullest extent of the law if they are found guilty of this thoughtless crime in order to better ensure they will not be able to abuse other animals in the future.
The dogs would not have even been let out if a couple of good Samaritans had not broken the car window to free them. After helping the animals, the police were immediately called. Unfortunately, it was too late for one dog, as its organs were gravely damaged after being trapped for so long in the blazing hot vehicle. Luckily, the other dog, named Scooby Doo, was treated and will hopefully be adopted by a caring family.
Sign this petition and demand that Joe and Ashlee Frazier get the maximum penalty under law, including a five year prison sentence and a $10,000 fine, if they are found guilty of this despicable crime. People who treat their animals in this deplorable manner deserve to get nothing less than the maximum punishment.
Dear Attorney Ober,
Police reported that Joe and Ashlee Frazier recently left their two dogs in the car with the windows rolled up on an extremely hot day while they leisurely went shopping at the mall. If they are found guilty of this heartless crime, they need to be given the maximum sentence in order to better ensure that other animals will not suffer as a result of their actions.
Both dogs may have died if it had not been for two heroic people who broke the window to let the dogs out. Sadly, one of those dogs had to be put to sleep, as it was not even able to walk after being rescued. The other dog had to be treated for severe injuries and it is now stuck living at a local animal shelter.
Although the couple has been brought up on felony animal cruelty charges, they may or may not get the maximum penalty that is sometimes given for this particular crime. I therefore encourage you to advise that these people be given the harshest sentence if they are found guilty of this inhumane act. Dogs don’t deserve to suffer needlessly because their owners don’t have time to make arrangements for them before they go gallivanting around at the mall.
