Target: Claremore Animal Shelter Director, Jean Hurst
Goal: Thank an animal shelter for hosting an adoption drive to bring more animal adoptions in the fall.
Starting September 2015, Claremore Animal Shelter is hosting a “Fall Adoption Drive” in an effort to bring extra attention to the needs of the animal shelter. Sadly, the shelter has been full since summer. This situation put the shelter in a position where they had to find their animals homes or do whatever they can to make space for incoming animals.
The animal shelter is hoping that the Fall Adoption Drive will bring down the number of animals very quickly. For the past several months, the shelter has had to come up with ways to fit new incoming animals. The animal shelter has been putting small healthy cats in the same pens together to try and save space. This option is not possible for their dogs, because they get too excited and make a lot of noise. The noise distresses the cats, even though they are in another room.
The shelter has always had a better percentage of dog adoptions than cat adoptions. Almost 90 percent of dogs are being adopted, but the same can’t be said about the cats. When it comes to cats, the challenge is that many individuals have allergies and don’t realize that they have them until after they adopt. Dogs are usually only given to the shelter when their owner’s new home does not allow pets or if their owner passes away. The shelter also receives a number of animals that are not adoptable such as ones with health or behavioral problems, which means that they have no choice but to euthanize them. Their goal is save as many cats and dogs as possible and spreading awareness of it through an adoption drive is the first step.
Please sign this petition to praise the Claremore Animal Shelter for coming up with the Fall Adoption Drive to boost up pet adoptions.
Dear Director Jean Hurst,
We are excited to hear that the Claremore Animal Shelter has decided to run a “Fall Adoption Drive” to boost the number of pet adoptions for the shelter. The adoption drive is a great idea that will spread much needed awareness of the amount of animals that are waiting in shelters. Since the fall season is the time when children go back to school and people are going back to work after long vacations, not many people are thinking about adopting a new pet. So the animal drive will surely make an impact.
Thank you for taking such good care of the animals in your care. If every animal shelter was as dedicated as yours, than more animals would end up in loving forever homes. Hopefully, the Fall Adoption Drive will be able to bring adoption numbers back up again.
