Punish Couple Accused of Keeping 280 Animal Carcasses in Freezer

Target: MSPCA Officer Christine Allenberg

Goal: Support the arrest of a couple accused of keeping over 200 animal carcasses in their refrigerators and freezers.

The Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) filed a criminal complaint with authorities to charge two people with several counts of animal cruelty after a thorough inspection in August 2015 at their home led to the discovery of about 280 dead animals stored in their freezers and refrigerators and over 120 other animals living in their own filth.

The official state report described the house as filthy and a large number of the animals living inside and outside of the house showed clear signs of neglect and injuries. When the officers entered the home through the front door, the odor of urine, feces, and decay overwhelmed them. There were cages holding cats and ferrets with no signs of food or water anywhere. The staff from Animal Control and the MSPCA worked together and removed about 280 dead animals from the home, including 65 dead animals from two refrigerators and over 200 animals from three freezers in their garage.

According to the court documents, Kathleen McHendry and Ronald Richard, the owners of the home, were each charged with 11 counts of felony animal cruelty and the authorities vacated their house. If they are convicted, they will both face fines and imprisonment. McHendry is adamant about defending her treatment of all of the animals. She still does not think she needs a veterinarian to help her care for her animals.

Please sign this petition to support the charges given to this couple for the animal cruelty found in their home.

Dear Officer Christine Allenberg,

A couple in Springfield, Massachusetts has been charged with animal cruelty after your team uncovered an unimaginable secret they were keeping. The officers were faced with a disgusting odor and a disturbing sight of animal cruelty. Officers found 280 dead animals spread out among refrigerators and freezers along with emaciated animals in and outside of their home.

Thank you and the team at the MSPCA for making this discovery and charging the individuals with animal cruelty. Although Kathleen McHendry still insists that she was capable of taking care of the animals without the help of veterinarians, that clearly wasn’t the case. Hopefully, these two individuals will be convicted for multiple counts of animal cruelty and finally pay for the crimes that they allegedly committed.

  1. Unfortunately, most of people have animal carcasses in their fridge – cows, chicken, lamb etc etc. And not only in the fridge, on their feet and their bodies (like leather and all other shit), too. 🙁
Hopefully more and more people will start thinking about how much crueltly there is and how they pay for it, and start living animal-friendly lives. 🙂

    • I agree with you on this. We use animals for everything and they have no say in what their lives are to be. I went vegan for the animals sake. It breaks my heart how badly animals are treated.

This is almost beyond belief! I feel sorry for those who entered that place and found so much horror. This pair of scumbags need to be locked up for a long time, it’s the only way to keep them away from animals.

  3. These sick & twisted individuals belong in straight jackets in a mental institution for the rest of their lives. Jesus~~get them out of society~~you know they’ll do it again if not locked up. Put them away for good.

  4. This is a typical case of hoarding people like these don’t even see the filth in the cages or on the floors. The dead animals in the freezers probably all died of starvation and neglect. I hope they get long, long sentences behind bars.

  5. OMG! Remove the animals and ensure they land in good places — as for these individuals, there’s something very wrong here — they MUST NOT EVER possess animals in the future — this couple is a danger to all animals.

Psychiatric criminal hospital for these two, please…
