Target: Miami-Dade Police Director J.D. Patterson
Goal: Investigate allegations that dogs at Miami-Dade Animal Services are enduring burns because they’re forced to sit on floors covered in unnecessary chemicals.
A former supervisor of Miami-Dade Animal Services revealed that many dogs in her center ended up with severe burns to their scrotal area, but despite her reporting the incident and expressing concern that employees may not have been following protocols, she says the issue still continues because of the chemicals used on the floors. This is the same center that’s been touted as a “high-kill” shelter by the public, but they ignore the pleas to stop the use of corrosive chemicals.
These poor animals are locked up and forced to sit as the substances burn away the flesh on the most sensitive parts of their bodies. It’s unacceptable that the animal shelter doesn’t care enough to simply change the cleaning products they’re using on the floors. Please demand that the Miami-Dade Police help ensure an animal cruelty investigation is opened against the center.
Dear Director Patterson,
It’s been brought to our attention that numerous dogs in the Miami-Dade Animal Services center have been forced to endure burns to their scrotums for years. A former supervisor alleges that it’s due to the chemicals the shelter insists on using despite the horrific burns the dogs continuously endure.
Photos posted to social media showed the extent of the injuries these poor animals have sustained. This cannot be ignored any longer. Continuing to use corrosive chemicals is essentially tormenting the animals who have to sit on the floors, and this is animal cruelty. We ask you to help open an investigation into this shelter’s sick practices.
