Target: Animal Control Officer Chris Martinez
Goal: Thank authorities for seizing animals from a farmer with past animal abuse offenses.
Twenty-eight animals were taken from a farmer after state humane agents searched his farm and found animals appearing to be malnourished and many with physical illnesses. The authorities saw animals in desperate need of help and acted as quickly as possible.
Malnourished animals were seized from Sidney, Maine farmer Mark Gould, who has been cited in the past for animal-related offenses. Over 20 goats, four calves, and one chicken were taken from Gould’s property after a group of state humane agents searched the farm with help from animal control officers. Most of them were malnourished or had physical ailments that needed immediate medical attention. Veterinarians are now caring for those 28 animals.
Gould has a long track record of animal abuse-related offenses. He was investigated for reports that he left dead animals on his farm. He was also charged for animal trespassing when he allowed his goats to roam over into his neighbors’ private property. State officials say that in the past they had worked with Gould to educate him and other farmers about how to care for animals in the proper way. They even provided him with services and contacts to call when he needed them. Officials have requested a court hearing and custody of the malnourished animals.
Please sign this petition to thank the authorities for their swift action in saving malnourished animals from this farmer from Maine.
Dear Officer Chris Martinez,
The Maine state officials and your animal control team went to search the farm of Mark Gould after getting reports that his animals were emaciated. Unfortunately, you and your team found a number of animals that were clearly malnourished and neglected by this farmer. Thankfully, you were able to rescue 28 animals and took them to get the medical treatment they needed to make a full recovery.
Thank you for getting the animals out of a really bad situation. Even though Gould worked with state officials to educate himself on how to properly care for animals, he still was not able to do so. So many people are overwhelmed with animals and do not seek out proper care for them. Thank you for keeping a close eye on the farmers to make sure that they are caring for the animals in the best possible way.
