Target: Judge Jackie Miller Jr.
Goal: Praise the arrest of a dog-trainer for her role in an animal cruelty case.
A North Texas dog trainer has been arrested after over 70 animals were seized from her home. During a regular welfare check, the Ellis County Sheriff’s office discovered the animals in unacceptable conditions and had to remove 60 dogs, a few cats, and a parrot. Authorities also found the carcasses of 20 dead dogs on the woman’s property.
Gayle Justice, the woman arrested, was the owner of an animal training facility called Maximum K-9: Remote Collar Training, which she ran from her home. Authorities came to the property to do a routine welfare check but she denied them access when they addressed her about a strong odor coming from her home. The officers reached out to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) and returned with a search warrant. They seized the animals after seeing the horrible conditions of the property.
Since being arrested, Justice agreed to turn over all of the animals to the SPCA rescue center in Dallas. Justice has also agreed to pay for all of the medical and custody expenses from this case. The dogs with microchips were returned to their rightful owners and Justice will pay about $18,000 in medical expenses so those who claimed the animals do not have to pay for treatments of their emaciated pets. Due to the deplorable conditions of her property and the animals in her care, Justice will be facing other charges of animal cruelty in the near future.
Please sign this petition to thank the officers and the judge of Ellis County for punishing this woman for her role in this animal abuse case.
Dear Judge Jackie Miller Jr.,
A woman was arrested for housing over 70 animals in deplorable conditions in her own home. The fact that this woman is a dog trainer makes the story even more tragic. About 20 carcasses of dogs were found in her home along with other neglected animals. Under your decision, she now has to pay $18,000 for the damage she has caused in the lives of these animals and their owners.
We would like to applaud you for making her take ownership of her poor decisions. As a dog trainer, people trusted her to take care of their dogs and train them to be better than they were before. Instead, they unknowingly left their pets with a person who neglected and abused them. Thank you and the Ellis County Sheriff’s Office for rescuing the dogs and getting them the proper medical treatment that they need to recover from this horrible experience.
