Target: Governor of Montana, Steve Bullock
Goal: Ban cruel fur farms in Montana
In Montana, there are fifteen farms that hold animals such as bobcats, foxes, lynxes, and minks captive to breed them for their fur. The living conditions are so poor that the animals are driven to self-harm: biting themselves, eating others, or even killing their babies. The fur farms simply treat the animals as though they were already dead. It is unfair to criticize how the animals are treating one another because they are wild animals who have not been domesticated and are not accustomed to living in small spaces.
Since the fur farms’ main concern is profit and there is no federal or state government regulations on farming or killing the animals, the fur farms give little regard to caring for and humanely killing the animals. The innocent animals are electrocuted, poisoned, gassed, or have their necks snapped, according to In Defense of Animals, an international animal protection organization.
With Montana known to be a state that appreciates wildlife, it is shocking that the animals are treated so disrespectfully. Montana is now known to be one of the worst fur farming states in the United States. Please put an end to the monstrous fur farming conditions that bobcats, foxes, lynxes, and minks in Montana must endure.
Dear Mayor Bullock,
I am writing to urge you to stop fur farming in Montana. The state’s fifteen fur farms imprison countless bobcats, foxes, lynxes, and minks. Driven to insanity, the animals injure themselves or kill other animals, including their own young. Should the animals survive their confined existence in the fur farms, they are only to be brutally murdered through gassing, poison, or electrocution. The animals are simply not meant to be enclosed in such small spaces. People are forgetting that they are living creatures that deserve respect.
There is no federal or state government protection to monitor the animals’ safety at fur farms in Montana. As a result, Montana is one of the most horrible fur farming states. Please eliminate fur farming in Montana to restore its reputation of being a state that appreciates wildlife and advocate that fur farming also be eliminated throughout the United States.
