Stop New Broiler Chicken Factory

Target: Ross Leal, Malvern Hills District Council

Goal: Oppose plans for new broiler chicken factory

Factory farms are cruel and inhumane environments for animals to live in. In broiler chicken factories, chickens are crowded into confined spaces, pumped full of hormones, and killed before they are even two months old. A new chicken factory has been proposed in Bockleton, Worcestershire, but England does not need another torture house.

The proposed facility would confine up to 188,000 birds at one time. As is typical, the facility would be dark, have minimal ventilation, and trap in toxic fumes. In such facilities ammonia buildup leads to scorched lungs and skin. Birds in factory farms also have their beaks cut off, develop sores and broken wings, and experience other injuries that go untreated. After living a miserable, unnatural life, these birds are sent to a torturous death.

Not only will a factory of this nature perpetuate undue torture to animals, but it will also pollute the environment. Factory farms contribute to toxic water pollution through waste disposal. This damages waterways, kills ecosystems, and endangers wildlife. The toxic levels of ammonia and the stench of the facility could also endanger local residents. The proposal for this new facility must be shut down. Tell the Malvern Hills District Council that you do not support the construction of a broiler chicken factory.

Dear Mr. Leal,

I recently heard about a proposal to build a broiler chicken factory in Bockleton, Worcestershire. I am strongly against the construction of a factory farm in this area. Not only do factory farms gravely mistreat the animals confined within their walls, but they also damage the environment and negatively impact the lives of nearby residents.

Chickens raised in factory farms do not experience a natural life. They are enclosed in small spaces, have their beaks chopped off, suffocate from toxic fumes, and develop sores and injuries as a result of their cruel lives and the stress they experience. In addition to the cruel treatment of animals, pollution from the facility will damage local waterways, killing local ecosystems and creating unnecessary environmental destruction.

I do not support the construction of this new facility. I do not support local residents breathing toxic fumes, nor do I support the mistreatment of the animals in such a facility. I urge you to terminate any plans for the construction of a broiler chicken factory.
