Target: Rick Jaffa, Story creator for Jurassic World
Goal: Support movies that promote respect for animals.
Jurassic World is widely delivering the message that animals should be respected, not exploited. The movie has broken records with its debut and has, therefore, already been seen by millions of people. Movies that encourage the anthropomorphizing of animals are becoming more common and, as a result, animals in real life are experiencing a shift in human consciousness that is working in their favor.
The new Jurassic Park installment portrays a theme park which resembles captive animal parks seen in the United States today. The fictitious characters who run Jurassic World view the dinosaurs in the park as “assets” rather than living, feeling creatures. However, the dinosaurs quickly prove to be highly intelligent, emotional beasts and devastate any human attempts to fully control them.
The director of the film even mentioned that the film purposefully has a Blackfish vibe. This massive appreciation of animals on such a public scale is truly amazing and immensely helpful to all animals.
By signing this petition, you’ll thank one of the main writers of Jurassic World, Rick Jaffa, for promoting respect for animals. Because of films like this, animals are one step closer to gaining long-due respect.
Dear Mr. Jaffa,
You helped create a record-breaking film that highlights animals as living, feeling things. This is a crucial time for this level of respect for the creatures that share the world with us.
The director of the film has publicly stated that the film has somewhat of a Blackfish feel to it. It definitely does in the way that it portrays the human-dinosaur relationships. The fictional characters in the film closely resemble many people in the world today. Too many people share sentiments that are detrimental to the happiness and freedom of wild and domesticated animals.
Jurassic World is helping change the lives of animals. Conversations about the way the dinosaurs were treated and how that made viewers feel have been ignited. It is my hope that the prehistoric-based series continues to highlight the importance of respecting animals and allowing them freedom and happiness.
Congratulations on your immense success with this film and thank you for using it to relay a very important message. Not only is the dinosaur angle popular, it is appealing to all kinds of people of all ages. People are talking and animals’ lives are changing.
