Dog Reportedly Shot to Death By Police Officer Deserves Justice

Target: Inkster Police Chief William T. Riley

Goal: Fire the officer who allegedly shot an innocent pet.

A man in Michigan called the police after a fight broke out at a local gas station. Little did he know that the phone call would end with the alleged murder of an innocent dog. As soon as the cop arrived on the scene the caller’s pup, Moose, approached the police vehicle in a friendly way, his body language loose and his tail wagging. The officer reportedly shot Moose four times. Conveniently, the officer’s body camera stopped working right before the incident, but someone who had been filming in the area caught the whole ordeal on video.

Cops kill between 25 and 30 dogs every day in the United States. Shockingly this number is likely an underestimate as police are not required to report animals they shoot on the job. The Department of Justice recently declared the number of dog deaths at the hands of police officers an epidemic. Yet as families are left dealing with the trauma of the horrific loss of their pets, officers almost never suffer any consequences.

This problem is directly related to police murders of civilians. This problem is directly related to police murders of civilians. Time and again, the American public is told that officers’ job is to serve and protect, yet what cops do in our communities is terrorize our neighbors and our pets. This trigger-happy officer who would apparently rather shoot first and ask questions later is a clear danger to the community.

It is time to begin holding officers accountable for their abuse against animals. Sign now and demand that this Inkster, Michigan police officer should be fired for reportedly slaughtering Moose.

Dear Chief Riley,

An officer in your department was apparently filmed shooting a non-violent, unthreatening dog owned by a citizen who reported a fight at a gas station. He reportedly shot the dog, Moose, four times, and his body camera happened to stop working just before the incident, which means that he would not have been caught if he wasn’t filmed by a bystander.

This is entirely unacceptable. There is a reckoning that must happen when it comes to the way police officers interact with the public, and that starts with you and officers like you. When an officer kills a citizen or their pet it breaks the trust that the public puts in law enforcement. This is a relationship that has been fraying for a long time, and it is only going to get worse unless the powers that be reconcile with the community. That must start with firing the officer who allegedly slaughtered Moose in the streets.

Please, make this death right and begin to restore the communities trust in you.

  1. ANOTHER trigger happy cop, great. And the police really wonder why people don’t trust them? Here is a PERFECT example. Now, do the right thing and fire this dangerous trigger happy fool.

  2. Julia Edinger says:

    • What a chicken shit. Officers like this are the ones that make our good officers look bad. He needs to fired. Turned this camera off intentionally to kill this poor dog.

  3. quinten putnam says:

RIP Moose I’m sorry you ran into this bad human, you didnt deserve what he did to you…

  4. Maria Bertrand says:

Inkster Police Chief William T. Riley

Why was Moose shot FOUR times? This is excessive and totally unnecessary. By all accounts Moose was a FRIENDLY dog. I am so sorry little Moose that you had to encounter this heartless trigger happy scumbag. One way or another you will have your justice. The law needs to punish the perpetrators in cases like this so that these uncessary shootings do not keep happening. The vast majority of dogs are FRIENDLY. And further police are so padded up ..what real damage could Moose really have done??????

  5. Mary Ann Sorokie says:

So disturbing….This person should not be on the police force…

  6. Shoot the fucking cop!

  7. POS scumbag cop needs to have a visit from karma… An eye for an eye, a death for a murder. I have zero mercy for sub-human trash like him. Society would be much better off.

  8. If Moose was my dog, I would have attacked the cop for his trigger-finger action. How dare he turn his camera off just before shooting 4 bullets into Moose. I’m glad someone recorded this atrocity. This POS should be fired and then jailed for what he did.

  9. I pray the scumbag cop gets the same end result.

  10. As far as defunding the police goes, that POS cop needs to be defunded through firing him & not allowing him to own any firearms.
How would he feel if some bad person broke into his house & shot & killed one of his kids after disabling any video security systems?

  11. A state like Texas has NO PROTECTION for Livestock Dogs. Under Texas Laws any or All Dogs that trespass on PRIVATE PROPERTY is a trespasser. No matter what breed, can be shot by PROPERTY OWNERS. IF it makes it off the PROPERTY suffering the PROPERTY Owners can NOT BE CHARGED for Animal Cruelty. Texas OPEN SEASON ON DOGS.

  12. Michelle Stewart says:

That cop must be fired immediately & must be banned for life from being a cop or even a security guard anywhere. He must be charged and serve 4 years in prison with no early parole, pay a $300,000 fine, and be banned for life from owning or going near any animals ever again. Real justice would be for that cop to have “an accident” and lose his life

  13. Don’t want to hear another excuse how the cop felt threatened! That’s BS!!

  14. That is why many ppl are calling for “qualified immunity” to be removed! When cops shoot to kill, they should be sued! Taxpayers pay their pension fund and salaries. Cities that have to pay millions to families of cop victims get that money from taxpayers as well. Cops should be sued for killing innocents!

  15. What happened to it being law from now on, that the cops had to have their body cameras rolling at all times? They seem to be disregarding that law and not being punished for it. Like I said and have been saying the laws are a …BIG FAT JOKE! OK, so try this one. Make it law, that police officers can only use stun guns and tranquilizer guns on dangerous animals then. Lets see if that law can be made, get passed or just get thrown in the looney folder along with the other stupid laws these lawmakers make.

  16. Elease M. Bradford says:

I’m so sorry to hear what happened to Moose. His murder was unprovoked because he wasn’t a threat. The police officer who killed Moose needs to be charged with animal abuse/cruelty and punished to the fullest extent of the law. RIP Moose and I hope you get justice.

  17. Jacqueline Whitney says:

What happens when a police dog gets shot? Every dog deserves life and to be protected from killers.

  18. Christine Nuttall says:

Get this evil piece of crap off the streets before he kills any more innocent animals. R.I.P Moose. Im so sorry that a human did this to you. You didn’t deserve it!!!

  19. There is absolutely no good reason for the cop to have shot this dog. None. Fire his ass. And make sure he is banned for life from owning or having any animals in his care.
