End Rowdy Late-Night Parties at London Zoo

Target: Zoological Society of London President, Sir John Beddington

Goal: Cease late-night parties that disturb and endanger zoo animals.

The London Zoo is set to launch a new event designed to encourage patrons to drink alcohol and listen to loud music. This might be an excellent idea if it didn’t force animals living in captivity to endure the antics of drunken patrons. Ask London Zoo President Sir John Beddington to end this practice immediately and spare animals the unnecessary suffering.

The event will be referred to as “Sunset Safaris” and will take the place of “Zoo Lates,” a previous failed attempt at a similar event. Zoo Lates proved particularly detrimental to several zoo animals and resulted in an abundance of destruction. Drunken partygoers poured alcohol on animals, attempted to enter and destroy exhibits, and shouted at animals. A woman even punched a bird and several butterflies were stomped on while in their exhibit.

The London Zoo has since changed the name of the event, but failed to take any action to properly monitor the activities. Alcohol will continue to be served and the animals will no longer enjoy the peace and quiet of the zoo closing for the night.

This event is unacceptable and demonstrates a severe lack of concern for animals among the London Zoo staff. Please sign this petition to demand the London Zoo end this event before more animals are disturbed or killed.

Dear Mr. Beddington,

The London Zoo has made a very bold statement by choosing to continue its late-night parties under a different name. This small act of manipulation may give some a false sense of security, but the reality is that the event will have the same effects as before. I urge you to end this event immediately and spare the animals the suffering they will inevitably endure.

The zoo has already experienced plenty of death and destruction in the hands of partygoers who quickly lose control. Continuing these events will ensure the worst has yet to be seen. Mixing drunken humans and zoo animals is an awful combination and it is only a matter of time before they result in lawsuits, death, and more destruction than ever before.

Animals in captivity are constantly being gawked at and forced to live in substandard conditions. The only peace they experience comes when the zoo closes and everyone goes home for the day. Please do not take away their one solace. End the late-night parties at the London Zoo immediately.

  1. Amy Veloz says:

The animals should not be disturbed at night. They need peace and quite. They don’t need a bunch of drunks harassing them!

  2. marian tebb says:

Zoo life hasn’t got much going for it, don’t take away the little they have, a good night’s sleep. Does the money raised directly improve life in any way for the animals? Might be justified occasionally, once, twice a year if it made loads of money and this was used to significantly improve their environments.

  3. marian tebb says:

Signed this without reading it properly, now I realise how bad it is, that zoo creatures are tormented and even cruelly killed, butterflies, is totally unacceptable, what the hell are they thinking? Hope this protest continues till this is stopped, whatever kind of people go to these so called parties, anyway? Obviously thick and unfeeling.

  4. The animals should be free and the public put behind bars.
