Applaud Cancellation of Show Featuring Live Animal Deaths

Target: NBC, Animal Rights Groups

Goal: Thank NBC for ending show portraying cruel animal deaths

Under Wild Skies, an NRA-sponsored show documenting the murder of animals, has recently been taken off the air after much effort from animal rights groups. The show followed Tony Makris, an NRA lobbyist who went around the wild killing animals such as elephants, buffalo, leopards, rhinoceroses and countless other wild animals. He would shoot these animals and celebrate in excessive ways, such as toasting with champagne.

The NBC Sports Network has received over 40,000 complaints by people offended and disturbed by the program. Makris responded to his critics by comparing them to Hitler for promoting “animal racism.” Efforts by activists convinced NBC to take the show off the network.

All activists who made efforts to end this cruel display of violence deserve the highest praise. Animal violence is a serious issue that is not highlighted or taken seriously enough by the public. This television show contributed to the animal insensitivity while promoting gun violence and portraying the killing of animals as something to be celebrated. It sends the wrong message especially to children who could think that violence towards animals is okay or even encouraged.

Please sign the petition below to thank activists and NBC for efforts to end the televised display of animal cruelty:

Dear NBC,

Thank you for cancelling the cruel show Under Wild Skies, after disturbing and inappropriate behavior by host Tony Makris. The show was a cruel display of violence towards wild animals. The way in which Makris would celebrate with champagne after killing animals was unsettling and it sent the wrong message about animal violence.

We would also like to thank activists who stood up for the innocent animals and petitioned relentlessly until the show was taken off the air. A show with such a violent message should have never been aired and it is fortunate that it was stopped before the cruel killing went any further.

  1. We would have no need to kill animals if we stopped farming them and were responsible for our pets. Nature can take care of its self, it did long before we rose to supremacy. We can exist on vegetables fruit nuts and pulses, we know this because many vegans do already. We could have a completely non human violent world if we wanted, but religion and ignorance and impulse and greed seen to rule our species, but we can change, one person at a time!

  2. Michael Guest says:

Wow! No more shows of live animal deaths. They don’t deserve any cruelty.

  3. It was time to change to humanity !

  4. Hunting shows are disgusting and should not be shown on live television……. actually hunting should be banned altogether! No wonder people are so messed up! Watching the media and thinking it is okay to do this as it is condoned on live television shows!
Why not bring back capital punishment and telecast that, then people might understand that doing the wrong thing, you will be severely punished??!!!

  5. tony makris, what a douchebag pussy. he needs to put down his guns and meet me somewhere so i can break my foot off in his cowardly ass. S.D.M.F. Pa
