Over 30 Maimed and Killed Pelicans Deserve Justice

Target: Charlton Bonham, Director of the California Department of Fish and Wildlife
Goal: Find those responsible for maiming and killing over 30 brown pelicans.

A brown pelican was found with its humerus bone protruding through its skin, and its wing had been twisted several times around. In less than a year, more than 30 other pelicans have been found maimed or killed along the Southern California beach between San Clemente and Huntington Beach.

Historically, fishermen tend to have conflicts with pelicans, who they accuse of stealing their bait or interfering in their catch in other ways. It is suspected that foul play is involved in these incidents.

“There is a history of members of the public having issues with pelicans, particularly fishermen,” Elizabeth Wood from the Wetlands and Wildlife Care Center stated. “Just based on that history, people are worrying that the same thing is happening again.”

Although the California Department of Fish and Wildlife is investigating the incidents, there do not appear to be any suspects identified yet. Sign this petition to ask authorities to devote more resources to finding and prosecuting those responsible for these attacks.

PETITION LETTER:

Dear Charlton Bonham,

Over 30 brown pelicans have been found maimed or killed in the past year in Southern California. One such injury entailed a bird with its humerus bone protruding through its skin, and its wing had been twisted several times around.

Historically, fishermen have been known to have conflicts with pelicans due to the birds sometimes interfering with the fishermens’ catch or stealing their bait. Although no suspects have been identified, it is suspected these attacks are being conducted by humans.

Please devote more resources to finding and prosecuting whoever is responsible for these heinous attacks.

Sincerely,
[Your Name Here]

  1. All animal abusers globally must have the death penalty implemented and nothing less!

Animals have been here as long as man has been on this planet. Isn’t it about time man learns to live with them peacefully?
The laws should be stricter for animal abusers and poachers. It may deter some of it if they knew they had to serve time in prison for their abuse and killing of innocent animals.

  3. Put out a $50,000 reward to start and once found and convicted, execute immediately.

  4. Do to the perpetrator what they did to the poor defenseless animal. Maybe then people will stop abusing animals. Then use the same on tactics on the abusers who harm little children.

  5. until our government and states start to take these abuses seriously and punish these shit heads nothing will change. the more they skate the more powerful they feel. cut them off at the knees now.

  6. Foul play is suspected? Really?

macht das gleiche mit diesen menschen

  8. Death for all scumbags who abuse and kill animals must be enforced internationally.
