Praise Shelter for Offering Aid to Displaced Animals During Flood

Target: Director of Weatherford Animal Services, Dustin Deel

Goal: Praise animal shelter for aiding displaced pets during a flood.

Texas has been dealing with historic floods, but many organizations are working together to help the residents who have been greatly affected. Weatherford, Texas Animal Services is working hard to assist and provide aid to the evacuated residents of the Horseshoe Bend area of Texas. They are helping residents with pets that have been displaced during the flood.

The Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter is offering residents temporary shelter for their animals until they can get back on their feet. Furthermore, the animal shelter is offering to microchip, spay/neuter, and administer vaccines to the owners of the displaced pets. On top of that, they are also giving each owner a bag of pet food when they come back to get their pets.

The Weatherford Parker County Animal Shelter has received about 50 animals from the area and expects more to arrive since flooding in the Horseshoe Bend area has not subsided and is still a huge concern. The shelter employees have had to come up with a plan to gather up all of the animals and make sure there is enough room for more animals to come into the facilities. They are encouraging people outside of Texas to adopt animals, so that they can bring their capacity back to a more controllable level. They are also asking supporters for donations to help offset the expenses of providing this service to the displaced animals.

Please sign this petition to thank the Weatherford Parker Animal Shelter for putting in the extra work to ensure that displaced animals are not left behind during this time of crisis in Texas.

Dear Dustin Deel,

Texas has been experiencing terrible floods and animals are truly helpless in situations like these. Unlike people who are able to move to safer areas in these types of emergencies, animals are usually tethered outside or kept in outdoor doghouses. Often times during emergency situations, people are faced with extremely difficult decisions and have to leave their pets behind.

Thankfully, your team is caring for these animals and giving them the temporary shelter they need while their owners get help and find protection for themselves. Thank you and the city of Weatherford for assisting and providing aid to evacuated residents’ pets.
